I would always take note of every rapper that I saw with a Jesus Piece on their chain,(almost all of them have one), and think to myself, “Where’s the originality, where’s the style?” Little did I know though that it wasn’t about the “piece, it was about what it represents. Now you may think duh, their showing their belief in Christ, but thats just a tip of the iceberg. (I believe)It has more to do with the experience that comes with transforming/transcending from one extreme to another.
Not just rappers/mcs, but almost all musicians(especially the most successful ones), have music dedicated to their struggles, and hardships. As a matter of fact if you just look at an (in-depth) interview with your fave artist, I’d bet my bottom dollar that they mention somewhere about what they had to go through to get where they are. Most of the time they talk about how they were so close to giving up(death) ,how everyone turned their back, and how they had to have strong belief. The saddest of stories, but with the happiest endings.
On top of all this what really put things into perspective is the struggle/hardship that I faced, and could make no sense of it, well I could and did, but still couldn’t grasp the whole concept of it all. That’s when you realize you can’t change people, only yourself and the world around you, and when you do its an eye opener to say the least. So anyways I’m currently browsing for my “Jesus Piece” and decided to post some pics of the ones I came across so far. I’ve seen some really nice ones, and some that seem to go overboard with the “ice” but to each’s own. Which one you’d buy?
